How to Change Your Engine Air Filter
Is your engine air filter due for a replacement? This simple but important task is one of the easiest ways to keep your car running efficiently.
Your air filter traps dirt and debris before they enter your engine. Over time, it gets clogged and can affect fuel efficiency and performance. If you're ready to swap it out, follow this guide to change your air filter and keep your engine breathing clean.
Step 1: Locate the Air Filter Box
Pop the hood and look for a rectangular or square box, usually near the engine, held closed with clips or screws.
Step 2: Open the Box
Release the clips or remove the screws. Carefully lift the cover and remove the old filter.
Step 3: Inspect the Filter
If it looks dirty or clogged with debris, it’s definitely time to replace it.
Step 4: Install the New Filter
Place the new filter in the same orientation as the old one. Make sure it fits snugly.
Step 5: Close the Air Filter Box
Secure the cover with the clips or screws you removed earlier.
Step 6: Final Check
Start your car and listen for any unusual sounds. You should notice smoother performance right away.
Replacing your air filter takes just minutes, but it can make a big difference. Regular replacements help your engine work more efficiently, reduce emissions, and save you money on fuel in the long run.
